November Meeting


The group discussed a mural done by the local school children on the toilet block in Monterey Community park, a financial grant will be required.

Overgrown vegetation that might be hazardous to passersby.

More vandalism has been noticed in the area, particularly around the Mahogany shops. Security cameras could be an option.

Police have been noticeably active in the area.

  • The condition of 59 Forest Drive has been reported to Council
  • Raffle selling guidelines for Pride day

  • Members encouraged to note the address of overgrown vegetation, which inhibits footpaths, and uneven footpaths
  • Still negotiating the notorious pram crossing on the sevice road, off Ballarto Road
  • Stage 3 of Monterey Park, tennis courts to become an extra car park to service the Soccer club, Baptist Church and the park
  • Community renewal evaluation now available
  • Dogs in the park still a problem, signage being ignored
  • Members encouraged to think about how we present ourselves and to find out what is important in the community

September General Meeting

Discussions were held on the following:
  • Mural on the toilet block at Monterey Community park
  • Suggested arts heritage walk in Frankston North
  • A spokesman for the local Police will be asked to speak at our next meeting
  • The Pines pool financial stability was discussed
  • The new aquatic centre at Sherlock reserve is due to open in 2014
  • Parking behind Mahogany Neighbourhood centre could do with upgrading and signage
  • 2 hour parking limit at the Pines shops
  • Customer service at the local fish and chip shop was commended
  • Geoff Shaw has arranged for $100 000 for an Employment and training officer and a Community engagement officer to be employed locally for 12 months part time
  • Try a trade has been a success
  • A follow up with Roland Richardson regarding school drop outs and truent program running locally
  • There is a room available for Mothers groups, playgroups, etc at the Mahogany Rise Primary school childrens services hub
  • Old matresses on the street are an issue needing to be addressed by Council
  • Some areas of repeat dumping are becoming an issue and offenders don't appear to be discouraged
  • Repoting of overgrown vegetation need to be addressed again

Christmas Raffle

It's that time of year again and we will be running our annual Christmas Raffle.

First Prize is a decorated Christmas cake
Second Prize is a family Christmas pudding
Third Prize is a small Christmas pudding

Yummy! Definately worth the $1 per ticket...

Annual General Meeting

Our annual general meeting was held on the 26th of August, 2012.

Congratulations to the following people who were elected to run the FNCG for the next year.
President- Margaret Mcgrath
Vice President- Lindsay Jackel
Secretary- Mark Gaffey
Treasurer- Sue Hately
Publicity Officer- Catherine Maling

Our guest speaker was Michaela Ebbitson from The Textas
Textas want to work for social and community harmony against racism and bullying. They have recently run a trivia night for fundraising for the community and plan many more events in the future, including involement in the Pines Pride festival next year.
FNCG donated $50 to the Textas to go towards T-shirts for their group

We also heard from Anne Linton, a Frankston North Youth worker with some upcoming plans including a group for young men, a homework group and an indigenous group.
